Deutsche Post DHL has launched a free parcel delivery booking service to make it easier to send DHL parcels from home.
If a parcel is already on its way to the recipient, they can now add another parcel to the notification or DHL shipment tracking free of charge. In this way, deliverers know in advance that they are to take a return or shipment from the customer with them. This can be done in person at the front door or at an agreed storage location. This means that customers do not have to meet their deliverers in person to give them a package ready for dispatch but can now conveniently deposit it at their agreed storage location on the booked day. The relevant deliverer receives a notification and thus knows that a package is ready to take away.
Around 40 million parcels are currently delivered to an agreed DHL storage location every month and thus reach their recipients even when they are not at home – and this trend is rising. With the new bookable package pickup, which now also includes the storage location, Deutsche Post DHL is responding even more closely to customer requests.
The new service means customers are relieved of long journeys and possible waiting times. Furthermore, by eliminating the routes, CO2 emissions can be reduced. However, the service is only available if there is sufficient loading capacity in the delivery vehicle. Additionally, the bookable package pickup is only available in combination with an incoming shipment with shipment tracking.
