E-commerce shoppers can face disappointment when shopping online if an item they want is out of stock domestically and not shipped to their home country from international sites.
Austrian Post has devised a way to overcome this challenge with the launch of its AllesPost Deutschland service. Customers can register for free to receive a German AllesPost address which they can use to shop internationally even when the website doesn’t ship to Austria. With the help of Austrian Post, the online order will still arrive at the Austrian home address.
“Our market research shows that almost 90% of Austrian online shoppers have already wanted to order goods that could not be delivered to Austria but could be delivered to Germany,” explained Peter Umundum, chief parcel and logistics officer, Österreichische Post.
“To round off the overall online shopping experience, we are therefore launching a new service with AllesPost Deutschland to enable flexible and occasion-related shipping to Austria if the desired product cannot be found in domestic stores.”
To use the service, the customer enters the German AllesPost address when checking out. The parcel is then picked up by a cooperation partner and handed over to Austrian Post, which delivers it to Austria one day later.
Registration for AllesPost Germany is free and a flat rate of €7.49 (US$8.15) per e-commerce shipment is charged when the order is sent to the individual AllesPost Germany address.
Interested customers can register for AllesPost Germany at post.at/allespost-deutschland.
