Poste Italiane has officially opened its new distribution center in the Province of Varese that will be able to handle 20,000 mail items every day.
The new center is part of Poste Italiane’s €40m (US$44.5m) Industrial Delivery 2022 project that will expand and transform the country’s logistics network through the opening of 36 new plants.
The distribution center was opened by Poste Italiane’s CEO Matteo Del Fante, who said, “This new distribution center is one of the cornerstones of our distribution network and supports a fundamental trait of Poste Italiane’s Industrial Delivery 2022 growth strategy.”
The 2,400m2 (26,000ft2) center in Varese will employ 50 people and will see annual parcel volumes of five million items, according to the post.
