Industrial property group Goodman and Spanish parcels company Seur have begun the construction of a €150m (US$165m) sustainably built logistics center on the outskirts of Madrid.
The Getafe Terminal Logistics Centre will become Seur’s central logistics hub in Spain and will be equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology to handle up to 1,500,000 parcels a day when it opens in 2026.
The 100,000m2 development will become a two-story multi-purpose production facility housing three Seur business units: one for last-mile distribution, with the capacity to house up to 300 delivery vehicles; an area for national and international cross-docking activity with trailers and duo-trailers; and one for the classification and distribution of refrigerated food products.
Ignacio García Cuenca, country manager, Goodman Spain, said, “Getafe Terminal Logistics Centre is a key project for Goodman, as it exemplifies our strategy of responding to the needs of our clients, who are looking for strategic locations and versatile assets to achieve greater agility and flexibility in their operations. The close collaboration with the local authorities and Seur will allow us to develop a comprehensive solution, both in terms of urban planning and buildings, to boost Getafe’s local economy.”
David Sastre Segovia, CEO of Seur, said, “This investment is a further step and the central axis of our investment plan and gives continuity to the recent infrastructures that are already operating throughout Spain. It also demonstrates our clear commitment – on the one hand, to our clients, accompanying them in their growth and responding to their logistics challenges; and on the other, to society, by creating jobs in the area and making sustainability a critical element in the new facility.”
