DX has opened a 23,910ft2 depot in Caley Close, northwest of the UK city of Norwich.
The opening increases the group’s capacity in the region and continues DX’s program to expand and develop its depot network. It follows the opening of the first of 15 former Tuffnells Express depots, secured in late June 2023 from Tuffnells’ administrator, and is in addition to these depots.
It is the latest addition to the group’s parcels network, part of the DX Express division, which provides highly secure, tracked deliveries to both business and consumer addresses. The new depot also improves operational efficiencies, reduces stem mileage and carbon emissions, and enhances customer service levels, a key focus for the group.
The new site has enabled the existing depot in east Norwich, on the Broadlands Business Park, to become a dedicated depot for the DX Freight division, which specializes in the delivery of irregular dimension and weight items and provides two-man and logistics services. A raised dock will be installed to support the freight operations from this site and to improve efficiency.
The reopening of the former Tuffnells sites is underway, and additional priority site openings are targeted, alongside the planned freehold development of a regional hub in Nottingham.
Paul Ibbetson, CEO of DX (Group), commented, “The current financial year is a major year of investment. This latest depot opening in Norwich significantly increases our capability in the area for both our parcels and freight operations. It also delivers further efficiencies, [and] environmental and customer service benefits. Enlarging and improving the depot network underpins the continued successful delivery of our growth plans over the short to medium term, and we look forward to reporting on further openings over the coming months.”
