PostNord has partnered with Swedish grocery retailer ICA and technology startup Glue to launch a pilot where groceries are delivered to a customer’s residence and stacked in the fridge, even when they’re not at home.
By installing a Glue Smart Lock, shoppers will be able to open their door remotely using their smartphone, allowing PostNord workers to gain access with their groceries. The smart lock system allows users to hand out digital keys to family, friends or trusted companies, which then expire after one use.
Anders Svensson, CEO of ICA Sweden, said, “Through this pilot, we want to explore the future of grocery shopping online and push the development forward. A service like this would make our customers’ everyday life a lot easier.”
Kenneth Verlage, business chief information officer of PostNord, said, “We want all consumers who shop online to be able to choose more personal and flexible deliveries. This service takes home delivery one step further.”
Carl Johan Grandinson, CEO, Glue, said, “Not only does this partnership take delivery services to the next level, it unlocks the force of the on-demand economy and encourages people to think differently when it comes to opening up their homes for services that make everyday life easier.”
