Poste Italiane has signed two agreements aimed at developing sustainable, innovative and digital solutions to simplify passenger travel and enhance intermodality in logistics.
The first agreement, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with FS Italiane Group, Trenitalia and PostePay, will see the development of joint solutions in the electronic payments sector to make the experience of purchasing tickets from physical and online channels even simpler and more immediate.
Meanwhile, the letter of intent (LoI) between Poste Italiane, FS Group, Mercitalia Logistics and Sennder will see the development of a sustainable and digitized logistics network. As part of the LoI, Mercitalia Logistics and Sennder will collaborate to expand the logistics network for intermodal freight transportation in Europe.
Matteo Del Fante, CEO and general manager of Poste Italiane, commented, “The partnership with FS Group opens a new chapter in our journey in logistics and digital. Our technologies can make advanced payment solutions easily accessible and secure for travelers, [and] offering a digitized logistics platform capable of controlling the entire freight transportation chain [will] create a sustainable intermodal transportation system in Italy and Europe.”
Luigi Ferraris, CEO of FS Italiane Group, added, “With the agreements signed today, we aim to simplify the payment methods for our vehicles and to improve the digitalization of freight transportation with a view to perfecting the multimodal rail-road offer in Europe, providing innovative and sustainable solutions capable of integrating rail services with first- and last-mile road services.”
