Prime Vision has developed an automatic mapping product to address the ever increasing complexity in sorting parcels.
Typical sorting centers have between 50 and 500 chutes, which have to cope with changing parcel volumes and different delivery options such as for retail outlets, parcel storage machines and evening delivery.
Most operators have insufficient chutes, making organizing containers difficult and time consuming.
Challenges include making sure post (ZIP) code ranges for containers at the same chute do not overlap, minimizing the total load and distance from chute to loading station and keeping the number of containers as well as load per chute as uniform as possible.
The Prime Vision System uses smart algorithms to create optimization tooling and data captured from the supply of parcels to map out the best assignment of chutes and containers.
Prime Vision says this optimizes sorting time and is the most effective use of production space.
