CEVA Logistics is speeding up operations at its Australian super-site with Automated Mobile Robots (AMR).
The robots have been deployed in Truganina near Melbourne, Victoria, where they have increased picking speeds in the Goods to Person field by 400% within the 250,000m2 facility.
They bring the shelf to the picker and the project took three weeks to go live including installation of eight robots working across a trial 400m2 area.
Each robot can pick shelves up to 500kg and is controlled via a centralized control system.
Pickers underwent a two-week training induction during the implementation phase.
Milton Pimenta, CEVA Logistics managing director for Australia and New Zealand, said, “With the scale of CEVA’s operation at the super-site we could immediately see this AMR solution was a very fast and efficient picking productivity and throughput option for us. AMR is the future for e-commerce operations, and we are excited to stay ahead of the competition in offering this kind of solution.”
CEVA worked with Cohesio Group during the pilot phase to create and deliver a scalable solution with the plan to deploy AMR in other warehouses.
