Swiss Post has partnered with railway operator SSB to install and operate My Post 24 parcel lockers at up to 50 stations throughout Switzerland.
The first My Post 24 parcel locker is set to go into operation at Zurich Central Station on June 4, 2015, with further lockers opening at another five to 10 stations by spring 2016.
The My Post 24 locker network is free of charge to use and is aimed at increasing convenience for customers by enabling them to send or receive parcels on the way to work or while shopping at the station.
At present, there are 35 terminals across Switzerland and all that is required to use the service is for customers to register for free for Swiss Post’s online services.
The installation of parcel lockers at Zurich Central Station will pave the way for a further partnership between SSB, Swiss Post and supermarket chain Migros Zurich, where packages will be delivered to the station’s locker within 30 minutes of the order being placed. The trial is set to start in fall 2015.
