Representatives of the board of Poczta Polska and the postal trade unions in Poland have signed an agreement ending collective wage disputes.
The parties have agreed:
- A PLN 460 (US$113) wage increase for all employees covered by the Collective Labor Agreement starting in January 2025;
- A minimum basic salary effective from March 2025 at the level of PLN 4,666 (US$1,145);
- A commitment by trade unions to refrain from making wage demands until the end of 2025.
According to Poczta Polska, these agreements to end the disputes were partly enabled because the organization experienced a smaller financial loss than had been predicted for 2024 following the implementation of a transformation plan and the voluntary redundancy program launched in November.
Poczta Polska CEO Sebastian Mikosz said, “I want to thank the unions, particularly the OPZZ-affiliated Postal Workers Union, which entered into these difficult negotiations requiring goodwill and composure from each side. I believe that the end of the wage industrial disputes will allow us to calmly focus on our common goal of transforming the post office. It will also give us the opportunity to calmly build a better image of the Polish Post as a reliable partner and employer.”
The amount negotiated during the meeting is in addition to salary increases from 2022-2024, meeting the demands put forward by the unions.
The meeting on December 12 was attended by 18 trade unions. The signatories of the agreement – representatives of the Postal Workers’ Union and the Postal Union’s Trade Union – appealed to the other unions to accept the negotiated terms and end all active wage disputes.
