Logistics specialist Whistl has invested £6m (US$7.8m) in the expansion of its Lutterworth site in the UK to help boost its e-commerce fulfillment capabilities.
The company will add 14,900m2 to the site through the construction of a 3,700m2-per-floor mezzanine structure within the existing warehouse. The construction of the new mezzanine, complete with automated conveyors, will enable Whistl to process around 250,000 pick-and-pack items per week. The extra capacity is expected to be available from early 2025.
Whistl says it is expanding the Lutterworth site to accommodate new business opportunities and support customer growth across a range of industries including clothing, footwear and small electrical appliances.
Nick Wells, executive chairman of Whistl, said, “We are excited by the opportunity we have through this investment in extra capacity to process smaller pick-and-pack items for customers. It enables us to broaden our fulfillment offer and expand the sectors we can service.”
