Baltic Post, a subsidiary of Lithuania Post, has reported a 55% increase in the number of corporate and private customers using its parcel locker network to send packages in 2015 when compared with the previous year.
The number of packages sent by business customers increased by 46% for the same period, whereas the number of private customers sending packages increased by 83%. Approximately two thirds of the items sent via the LP Express parcel locker network belonged to corporate clients or online stores.
Baltic Post currently operates 80 LP Express self-service parcel lockers in 41 Lithuanian towns and cities. There were nine new parcel lockers launched in 2015 in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaip?da, Marijampol?, Maeikiai and Alytus.
Juozas Buitkus, director of Baltic Post, said, “The rapidly growing e-commerce market is increasing the volume of items sent via the LP Express self-service terminals. According to statistics, almost one third of Lithuanian residents shopped online last year.
LP Express terminals allow customers to collect and send their items outside the working hours of post offices and couriers. This flexibility helps to meet the needs and expectations of the modern-day customer.”
