Parcel terminal developer Cleveron has launched its new CollectNet parcel locker service in Estonia, which provides an open network of PackRobot terminals for use by all delivery providers.
The initial trial period will see 10 parcel lockers deployed at high footfall areas such as major supermarkets and shopping centers in Viljandi and Tartu in Estonia, although the service may be rolled out to other countries in future. E-commerce, retail and logistics companies can sign up for a free trial via the CollectNet website.
To use the service, customers simply select the most conveniently located PackRobot when placing their order. They will then receive a notification from CollectNet via email and SMS when the parcel is ready to be collected.
The PackRobot’s one door system enables all delivery and collection tasks to be completed in one place, meaning that customers and couriers are not required to move between the control panel and locker. All PackRobots have been fitted with climate control ensuring that the locker temperature is kept between 5°C and 20°C all year around.
Arno Kütt, CEO of Cleveron, said, “CollectNet does not arrange the logistics. We only offer the possibility to insert and withdraw parcels within the network of PackRobots. We can compare it to an airport that different airlines use. Instead of every airline company building its own airport, they collectively use one infrastructure.”
Kaur Ojakivi, service manager at Cleveron, said, “The first stage of CollectNet is the pilot project, which consists of 10 PackRobots. The second stage involves approximately 500 innovative parcel lockers, which will be set up all around Estonia.”
