To mark the opening of its first UK branches in London last month, Nova Post has successfully delivered a food hamper from luxury British retailer Fortnum & Mason to the Ukrainian military on the front line in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The gesture mirrors the actions of Queen Victoria, who sent food, soap, blankets and literature to British soldiers on the front line during the Crimean War in the 19th century, with home comforts helping them withstand the harsh conditions of war.
“During the launch of the Nova Post branch in the UK, we sent a Fortnum & Mason Hamper, a food basket from London to Ukraine, to support the Ukrainian military who are defending us at the warfront,” explained Oleksandr Lysovets, CEO of Nova Post Europe.
“Fast delivery by Nova Post from Europe to Ukraine helps unite Ukrainians who have been divided by borders due to the war. By sending a parcel from London, we want to remind our defenders that they are remembered and cared for everywhere, even far from home.”
Nova Post ensured the fast delivery of this symbolic parcel to the frontline area and it has been received by Roman Antonchenko, who worked as a courier at Nova Post in the village of Rokytne in Kyiv region before joining the defense forces as the Russian invasion began.
“It’s nice to receive parcels from the rear, so we feel supported and know that we are always remembered, even outside our homeland. Besides, this gives us even more motivation to keep on fighting. I am very grateful to my colleagues at Nova Post for their continuous support to our unit,” Antonchenko said.
