Baltic postal operator Omniva plans to invest more than 20m (US$21.5m) in the expansion of its parcel machine network over the next five years, to make it more convenient to receive parcels in smaller settlements in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Ansi Arumeel, a board member for Omniva, said, “Increasingly more business customers see the Baltics as a single integral market when it comes to e-commerce. Customers expect a parcel service that covers all Baltic countries.
“Plans for the procurement include purchasing different types of parcel machines for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, in order to secure our position as a market leader in the Baltics. This will make our services accessible both in cities and smaller settlements in rural areas.”
By the end of 2016, Omniva will operate 277 parcel machines and 33,000 lockers, making it the largest parcel machine network in the Baltics. The company’s parcel network has grown by more than a third throughout 2016.
