To augment and improve the postal remittance business in the Philippines, officials from the Postal Administration of India are working with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) to create a payment platform.
Millions of migrants worldwide send billions of dollars in remittances each year to their families or communities in the country, and in many developing countries including the Philippines, remittances are a large and important source of revenue.
The collaboration is part of a program aimed at facilitating and improving postal relations between member countries in the Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU), and India Post is a key channel partner providing development assistance and remittance platforms.
Acting Postmaster General Luis D Carlos said, “In a business forum abroad, we have tried to lobby with the Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU) to help PHLPost in its remittance platform. India Post has one of the most advanced and modern remittance platforms in the postal service. The assistance given by India Post is part of their outreach program to help the postal service improve its remittance business.”
