Automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) technology provider Renovotec will launch its Renovotec Innovation Centre (RIC) at its 1,916m2 purpose-designed facility, based at the head office in Newton-Le-Willows, near Warrington in the UK.
Open to all customers and visitors, the RIC will display dynamic and interactive solutions for organizations operating throughout the supply chain. It features dedicated industry zones for manufacturing, warehousing, transportation and logistics, healthcare and retail.
In the manufacturing zone, demos will include robots showing their skills for picking, fetching and walking. Also in this area, forklifts will scan pallets using Zebra’s wireless FS40 fixed industrial scanners and deep learning optical character recognition (OCR) solution to automatically check lot numbers, batch codes and serial numbers.
For managing the mobile workforce, the integrated management solution SOTI ONE will be on show. This platform offers control and visibility into every mobile device in the field. It reduces costs as well as the complexity and downtime of mobile operations. Also in this area, 51T Charging Solutions will demonstrate its intelligent charging cabinets for enterprise handheld devices.
For retail, the center will display Datalogic’s Magellan 9800i self-service scanners that use AI to identify objects in addition to barcodes, removing the need for search screens.
In the healthcare zone, a prescription demo will combine full-touch PDA technology and a megapixel scanner with Datalogic’s Memor 10 and Brother’s QL-820NWB.
For the warehouse, there will be a showcase of tablets and rugged hardware from Renovotec’s ecosystem of partners, including Honeywell, Zebra Technologies, Advantech, Newland, Handheld and Getac.
Richard Gilliard, managing director at Renovotec, said, “The Renovotec Innovation Centre is so much more than a demonstration space – it’s a tool for brainstorming, visualizing and strategy planning. Customers can experience first-hand how our solutions can give real-time visibility into industry-specific business challenges. The RIC acts as a sector-wide business transformation hub to learn how to most effectively manage people and assets, improve efficiencies and profitability and revolutionize supply chain business operations.”
Anish Mackan, chief technical officer at Renovotec’s partner Synergy Logistics, commented, “The RIC is the one and only multivendor, multitechnology innovation center in the marketplace, allowing customers to visualize what’s available now and get insight into what’s coming soon from several hardware and technology solution providers to drive efficiency and value within their business. With rising costs and labor shortages, it’s becoming difficult for supply chain vendors to absorb these escalating costs. Choosing the right automation platform and a WMS capable of managing multi-orchestration platforms and solutions is vital.”
Ryan Wilby, engineering manager at Asda, a Renovotec customer who attended the RIC launch event, commented, “The Renovotec Innovation Centre offers us the opportunity to interactively review a range of products from the latest and the greatest manufacturers in the marketplace in one space. This is truly unique and a huge value-add service from Renovotec. It saves us time and resources and arms us with the most thorough and in-depth insight into the productivity and efficiency benefits of new mobile device technology, and alternative tools for our frontline. It essentially enables us to quickly consolidate and upscale our technology for maximum ROI – so we can deliver on our promise to our customers to keep our prices as low as possible.”
