Geodis has opened a 7,000m2 e-logistics site in Coventry in the UK, with the new site’s location enabling rapid product distribution through its strong transportation links. The facility has the capacity to store more than 500,000 SKUs and process up to 5,000 orders per day.
The site is intended to support Geodis’s e-logistics platform, launched in 2020, which supports e-retailers in outsourcing their logistics operations. Geodis now operates a total of six e-logistics platforms, located in the USA, France and the UK, with space also available in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. A total of 40,000m2 of warehousing is dedicated to this offering. These platforms offer a complete logistics solution for order preparation and personalization, inventory optimization, transportation organization and return management.
Geodis’s e-logistics solution ensures e-commerce companies of all sizes can efficiently outsource their logistics without the need for a large financial investment, thanks to shared multi-client warehouses and a more flexible contractual commitment. Geodis e-logistics integrates with the leading CMSs, ERPs and marketplaces. As soon as a buyer places an order online, the e-logistics teams take over the preparation and shipping of the order and any returns. E-merchants can track the progress of their business and their orders in real time thanks to the digital visibility portal.
Jean-Pierre Juteau, head of Geodis e-logistics Europe, said, “The e-logistics offering is the latest innovation from Geodis. The opening of this new e-logistics facility in the UK will allow new webshops, marketplaces and other kinds of e-commerce platforms to develop their businesses in a new geographical zone close to local markets.”
