PostNL has extended its parcel and letter machine offering with a pilot in Breda in the Netherlands. This is in addition to the parcel and letter machine tests in Almere, Tilburg and at a number of locations in Limburg.
From this month (January), consumers will be able to access a number of the machines positioned across Breda to pick up deliveries and send a letter or parcel. Seven new machines will soon be added in Almere, and PostNL will expand the program to other cities in the Netherlands in early 2018.
The machines consist of a dual slot letterbox and several parcel lockers in various sizes. To send or pick up parcels, consumers are sent a text message or email containing a unique code that they can use to open the machine.
PostNL launched the initiative last year with 15 machines spread across Almere neighborhoods, and then placed six more in the rural areas of Limburg six months later. In Tilburg, customers have had access to 12 different locations since November last year.
