Logistics technology company DeliveryApp plans to create more than 100 new roles in the northwest of the UK to bring more women and diversity to the industry.
The company will look to increase its headcount by over 50 staff members in 2023, with a particular focus on digital and technology talent, including developers and digital marketing staff, as well as operations and sales. According to the company, only 26% of those in the tech industry and only 19% in the transportation and logistics industry are women. DeliveryApp already has a nationwide network of over 16,000 registered self-employed drivers and that number is growing.
Gemma Taylor (above), chief operating officer of DeliveryApp, commented, “The size of the opportunity we see is huge. We are proactively looking for the best talent in the UK to build upon the already innovative team we have. Some of the biggest employers in the UK have had to make some extremely difficult decisions and it has freed up some amazing talent that we want to give a home to at DeliveryApp. This year’s International Women’s Day theme of #EmbraceEquity has never been more important, as women are underrepresented in this sector. At DeliveryApp we strive toward inclusivity and bolstering gender parity in the industry. Women, as well as other underrepresented groups, bring a diverse skill set and experience to the workforce. We hope our recruitment drive will be a great opportunity to bring more diversity and create a culture of inclusivity in the logistics industry.”
