Consumer delivery specialist Hermes has been applauded for its commitment to innovation following a special site visit from UK cabinet minister Matthew Hancock (above, center), secretary of state for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
Hancock saw first-hand how the technology is currently being utilized by Hermes during a tour of the company’s Newmarket depot. Hancock, MP for West Suffolk, was able to trial a Hermes ‘Pay and Print in Store’ device and interact with a Starship self-driving delivery robot. He then received a sneak preview of new innovations currently being devised by the company, including possible uses of cutting edge technologies such as HoloLens and facial recognition technology.
Hancock said, “I have been thoroughly impressed by Hermes’s commitment to innovation as a part of improving the delivery experience for online shoppers across the UK. I also look forward to seeing some of the exciting solutions currently in development soon becoming a reality.”
