At Parcel+Post Expo, Southco has unveiled the new R4-EM-05 Mini Electromechanical Latch, a compact electronic rotary latch delivering next-generation electronic latching capability for the last mile.
Southco is showcasing the product alongside its industry applications live at the expo. The engineered latching solution has been designed to increase the security and functionality of last-mile and smart city technology. In particular, the R4-EM-05 targets access control for last-mile applications, including parcel lockers, delivery boxes, cargo bikes and robots.
According to Southco, the Mini Electromechanical Latch will be advantageous to major equipment manufacturers due to its relative strength, concealed installation and small footprint. An added capability is the option to control the lock via a smart device to enable communication between equipment software and hardware, offering connectivity with new and future technologies. The locking mechanism withstands the constant movement and vibration expected in cargo bikes in busy urban environments and has been designed to fit small doors or applications with limited internal space.
Robert Čížkovský, key account manager at Southco, said, “We have a couple of potential customers and big players here at the show, like Kebo, Modern Expo and Prime. We’re here to keep our good relations and move the relationships further forward with our customers.”
