The International Post Corporation (IPC) has appointed Posten Norge CEO Tone Wille as chairman of the board. She will be the first woman – and the second Norwegian – chairman of the board in IPC.
Wille will take over as chairman of the board in November, succeeding Dag Mejdell, who has decided to resign after having been chairman of the board of IPC for the past 10 years. Mejdell was CEO of Posten Norge from 2006 to 2016.
Wille has been CEO of the Posten Norge Group since 2016. Prior to this, she was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Posten Norge from September 2012. She has also been a member of Posten Norge’s group management and director of finance and corporate governance in the mail division. Before coming to Posten Norge, she was an investment director at investment fund Norfund and senior vice president and chief financial officer of energy technology companies GE Energy (Norway) and Kværner Energy. She also has a master’s degree in economics and business administration.
IPC is a cooperative company governed by a board, composed of the CEOs of 11 IPC members plus IPC’s president and chief executive. The board meets at least twice a year and sets the corporation’s strategic direction, approves the annual business plan and budget, appoints the CEO and provides guidance and support to IPC management in the implementation of the strategic business initiatives.
Wille commented, “It is a great honor for me to have been nominated as chair of the IPC board, and I am looking forward to taking on the position. My key priorities will be to further enhance the leadership of posts in sustainability and e-commerce.”
Mejdell said, “I congratulate Tone on the election. I am confident she’s the right person to chair the board and govern the IPC for years to come. I will be happy to share my experience and knowledge with her with a view to the handover in November.”
