DHL Parcel has launched an over-the-counter service, ‘Walk In Send’, across its Service Points in the UK to increase convenience for consumers.
The over-the-counter service is intended to cater to busy consumers, offering a simple and convenient way to send and pay for parcels in-store. At each Service Point location, consumers will be able to pay over the counter to send a parcel, after filling in delivery details on a handheld device. Staff will then print and affix the necessary labels. When sending a parcel over the counter, senders will be issued with a shipment number to track their parcel.
The walk-in option expands DHL Parcel’s consumer services, adding to the existing online services of home collection and Service Points drop-off, which runs seven days a week. The launch is also expected to drive an increase in brand awareness through in-store branding and signage.
Peter Fuller, CEO of DHL Parcel UK, said, “We are delighted to be launching our over-the-counter service Walk In Send across the country. The service is extremely accessible, with long opening hours and the ability to pay in-person making sending a parcel with DHL simpler than ever before. We know our consumers need a service that suits their busy lifestyles and the over-the-counter service Walk-In Send option is perfectly designed to do precisely that.”
The new service will be rolled out across the UK in partnership with the parcel sending and collection service Collect+ which is part of the UK bill payment company PayPoint. Nick Williams, head of strategic partners and products, parcels, PayPoint, said, “We are proud to be expanding our partnership with DHL with the introduction of the new over-the-counter service Walk In Send. At PayPoint, we’re always looking at ways to expand our relationships to help retailers increase their footfall and get the most out of their stores and DHL’s Walk In Send does exactly that. The simplicity and flexibility of the service offers greater convenience to consumers looking to send a parcel.”
