DPDgroup has teamed up with Seur to launch a unique air quality monitoring program in Madrid, Spain. The program has been previously implemented in Paris, France, and Lisbon, Portugal, and will be rolled out in 20 European cities in the coming months.
The air quality measurement is performed thanks to sensors on Seur’s parcel delivery fleet and facility network, such as pick-up points and urban depots.
Selected urban fleets and facilities are equipped with the latest Pollutrack laser-based mobile sensors. These sensors collect real data every 12 seconds, street by street, at breathing level, including the PM2.5 particles that are used to visualize urban air quality levels on high resolution maps.
Itxaso Larrañaga, human resources and CSR director, Seur, said, “Seur has been reducing and compensating its CO2 emissions for many years, which therefore reduces its impact on the environment. We must – and have the responsibility to – launch initiatives that are environmentally friendly and adapt our operations to the environmental challenge that is air pollution.”
